Czech Tidbit I

Ok so, it's still snowing and my homework is all done and there isn't much for me to do, while everyone is still gone on the ski trip. I really don't feel like getting soaked in the snow, so I decided to start a new little post I'll do once in a while called "Czech Tidbit". Basically I'll post something interesting about the Czech Republic and it will not only educate me, but all my devoted readers.

Ok, so before I came to study in the Czech Republic, I took a class called, Czech for Travelers. In the class we learned basic Czech phrases and the culture of the Czech nation. As for tests, we didn't have any, instead we watched a movie at midterm and at finalterm and wrote papers about it. The movies were subtitled and they were really interesting (these are the first foreign film I have ever seen). The two movies that we watched are: Koyla (which one an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1996) and Up and Down (which won five Czech Lion Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress). I highly recommend Koyla, it's a really good film. The second movie was very different, and I did like, but most people might find it unusual, and ends abruptly.

While doing a little research about Czech films, I found out that there has been many "foreign films" filmed in the Czech Republic. I examined the list of movies and found out that many of the movies, not only have I seen, but own as well. Who would have known?
